Danny Murphy is expecting to see Man United join Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League's top four this season
Danny Murphy is backing Manchester United and Tottenham to both finish in the Premier League’s top four this season.
The Red Devils are aiming to try and break back into the top four this season after they finished in a disappointing sixth place and without a trophy last term.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is currently preparing for his first full season in charge of the Red Devils as they look to try and secure qualification for the Champions League.
Tottenham, meanwhile, are aiming to maintain their status in the top four after they finished fourth last season under Mauricio Pochettino.
Murphy feels that Manchester United have strengthened impressively in the summer transfer window and he is expecting to see them seal Champions League qualification this term.
Speaking in an interview with the Daily Mail, Murphy said: “City and Liverpool will qualify for the Champions League again but when six big teams are going for four spots, two will miss out — as Arsenal and Manchester United did last season.
“I’ve got a feeling United will improve through financial power — particularly now they have signed Harry Maguire — and will join Tottenham in the top four.”
Manchester United will kick off their Premier League campaign with a home clash against Frank Lampard’s Chelsea FC side at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur will get their season under way with a home clash against Aston Villa at their new stadium on Saturday evening.
Spurs reached the Champions League final last term but ended up losing 2-0 to Liverpool FC in Madrid back in June.
