Insider delivers update on Real Madrid interest in Man United star
David De Gea could be close to committing his future to Man United, according to Ian McGarry

David De Gea’s camp have not been in touch with Real Madrid recently and the goalkeeper has the offer of a new contract at Manchester United on the table, according to transfer insider Ian McGarry.
The Spanish shot-stopper has earned a reputation as one of European football’s top goalkeepers since his arrival at Old Trafford from Atletico Madrid back in the summer of 2011.
De Gea has been regularly linked with a move to Real Madrid over the last few years, and he came close to joining the Spanish giants back in 2015, before the move fell through at the final hour.
Manchester United are understandably believed to be keen to keep De Gea at the club as the bid to try and tie him down to a new contract.
Now, football consultant McGarry has revealed that Manchester United remain hopeful of being able to get the goalkeeper to commit his future to the club.
Speaking on the Transfer Window podcast, McGarry said: “De Gea has had a summer of upset because Madrid haven’t been in touch with him or his agent Jorge Mendes. It is a move that he has coveted.
“He has a very good contract offer on the table. He hasn’t signed it yet but I think that may be the next step.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United will be aiming to try and challenge for the Premier League title next season as they bid to try and win the trophy for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement back in 2013.
