Man United keen on signing Belgium star with £25m release clause – report
Manchester United are keen on signing Dries Martens from Napoli, according to the Italian club's former director

Manchester United are keen on signing Dries Martens from Napoli, according to the Italian club’s former director.
The 30-year-old Belgium international was touted as a possible target for both Manchester United and Chelsea during the summer transfer window, but a move failed to materialise.
Martens only signed a new contract with Napoli back in May but he has been linked with a move away from the Italian club after he hit 28 goals for the Serie A side last season.
Now, the Italian club’s former director Pierpaolo Marino has appeared to confirm the existence of a €28m (£25m) release clause in Martens’ contract, and also said that Manchester United are keeping a very close eye on his situation.
Marino told Tuttosport, as quoted by Metro: “The €28m clause is likely to be a low price even if he is 30.
“It turns out that United are following him very closely.”
Manchester United were linked with a host of players during the summer transfer window, but the Red Devils only ended up landing Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic.
The Red Devils have made a flying start to the new Premier League season, winning six of their opening seven games to leave them second in the table and level on points with leaders Manchester City.
Manchester United return to Premier League action after the international break with a crunch clash against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime.
