Eric Bailly delivers an injury update for Man United fans after he suffered a knee problem against Chelsea FC
Eric Bailly has taken to social media to thank Manchester United fans for their support after his latest injury setback.
The Ivory Coast defender suffered a medial ligament injury in his right knee during Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea FC in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Bailly will now miss Manchester United’s final two games in the Premier League against Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City as he begins his recovery.
The injury also means that Bailly will miss the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
However, the 25-year-old seems like he is keeping himself in positive spirits, and he took to Instagram to issue an upbeat update after his injury setback.
Bailly posted the photo above on the app and wrote: “I would like to thank everyone for the messages of love and support I have received.
“It’s tough, but one must accept that some injuries are unavoidable.
“It’s true that this season hasn’t smiled down upon me very much, but I will return soon and with more strength next season, God willing.”
Bailly has struggled for form and fitness this season, and he has only started eight games in the Premier League for the Red Devils, making a further four substitute appearances in the top flight.
Manchester United will return to Premier League action on Sunday when they travel to Huddersfield Town.
The Red Devils are currently sixth in the table and facing an uphill battle to break back into the Champions League qualification spots.
