Rio Ferdinand is backing Marcus Rashford to continue to develop his game at Manchester United
Rio Ferdinand is tipping Marcus Rashford to improve his composure in front of goal for Manchester United and step his game up at the club in the coming seasons.
Rashford is widely regarded as one of England’s most promising young talents and he has earned plenty of praise for his performances for Manchester United since breaking into the first team at Old Trafford under Louis van Gaal.
The 20-year-old is looking to hold down a regular starting spot in the first team at Manchester United under Jose Mourinho but he has certainly been in impressive form so far this season.
Rashford scored three goals and made four assists in his first 15 Premier League appearances for Mourinho’s men before this weekend’s crunch derby clash.
One criticism that has been levelled at the youngster in recent years is that there could be room for improvement in terms of his finishing ability in front of goal.
However, former Manchester United defender Ferdinand is confident that will come in time and is backing Rashford to develop into one of the club’s top talents.
Speaking to BT Sport last week, Ferdinand said: “The composure in front of goal will come with time.
“It will be a major part to his game and set him up to go to another level again.”
Manchester United will discover their opponents for the last 16 of the Champions League when the draw is made in Nyon on Monday 11 December.
