Frank Lampard has praised Marouane Fellaini for the improvements he has made to his game at Manchester United in recent seasons.

The Belgium international proved his worth to Jose Mourinho’s men on Saturday when he scored twice during the Red Devils’ 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

Fellaini has been regularly called upon by Mourinho since the Portuguese coach’s appointment as the club’s new manager back in May 2016.

And the midfielder has proved himself to be a useful utility player for Mourinho as he tries to steer the Red Devils to their first Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement back in 2013.

Lampard played against Fellaini during his time at Chelsea but the former midfielder feels that he deserves credit for the improvements he has made to his game.

Speaking on BT Sport on Saturday night, Lampard said: “He’s a handful and he’s strong. I think he’s improved as a player.

“Now I think he’s got an all-round game and Mourinho’s definitely made him feel like a big part of the team.”

Fellaini will be hoping to feature again for Manchester United after the international break when the Red Devils take on Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday 14 October.

Manchester United’s win over Crystal Palace left them in second place in the Premier League table and level on points with leaders Manchester City after seven games of the new campaign.
