Gary Neville makes prediction about Man United this term
Gary Neville believes that winning the FA Cup and finishing in the top four would be a decent season for Man United
Gary Neville believes that winning the FA Cup and finishing in the top four would represent a strong season for Manchester United.
The Red Devils were dumped out of the Champions League at the hands of Sevilla in the last 16 stage earlier this month in what was a shock result at Old Trafford.
With Manchester City on the verge of winning the Premier League, the defeat by Sevilla has left Jose Mourinho’s team playing for a top four finish and the FA Cup this season.
Manchester United will take on Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley for a place in the FA Cup final as they look to try and finish Mourinho’s second campaign in charge with a trophy.
The Red Devils are currently looking to try and also finish as runners-up to Manchester City in the Premier League this season.
Former Manchester United defender Neville feels that winning the FA Cup and finishing in the top four will represent a solid end to the season for the Red Devils, but admits that they need to try and push for the title next term.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville said: “The FA Cup will really help the club this season.
“If you’d have asked me at the start of the season whether second place and the FA Cup would be a successful season I would have said no, because the league had to be the priority.
“However, now looking at where they are at, it would absolutely be a progression from previous seasons, but ultimately be below where it needs to be.”
Manchester United finished sixth but won both the Europa League and League Cup last season.
