Graeme Souness: Man United will get title boost from key player
The Liverpool legend is tipping Zlatan Ibrahimovic will give Manchester United a huge boost in the title race
Graeme Souness believes Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return from a knee injury will give Manchester United a much-needed boost in the title race.
The Red Devils suffered a surprise 2-1 loss to Huddersfield Town at the John Smith Stadium on Saturday to see their unbeaten run come to an end at the hands of the promoted side.
Manchester United have only managed to collect a point from their last two Premier League games following a goalless draw with Liverpool at Anfield before a 2-1 loss at Huddersfield Town.
Jose Mourinho’s side scored 21 goals and kept six clean sheets in their opening seven Premier League games to underline their status as title favourites.
Manchester United signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic in the summer transfer window.
Lukaku has failed to get on the score sheet in his last two games but the Red Devils hope to have Ibrahimovic back fit by the end of November after the veteran striker signed a new one-year deal in the summer.
Former Liverpool captain Souness believes Ibrahimovic can give Manchester United a big boost in the title race.
“Man United have people missing,” Souness told Sky Sports.
“Man United will get a lift from Zlatan Ibrahimovic. His effect in the dressing room will be enormous.
“No-one will roll Man United over. They will get amongst the big teams and cause problems.”
Ibrahimovic scored 28 times in all competitions during his debut campaign at Old Trafford.
