Jamie Carragher: Man United star could be the Premier League’s best ever
Jamie Carragher believes that David De Gea could end up being classed as the best goalkeeper in the Premier League era

Jamie Carragher has admitted that David De Gea could end up being classed as the Premier League’s best ever goalkeeper following his sparkling form for Manchester United.
The Spanish shot-stopper has been earning plenty of praise for his displays for Jose Mourinho’s men this season and is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeeper’s in the world right now.
De Gea was praised for his brilliant display as he helped Manchester United to seal a 3-1 win over Arsenal at The Emirates last weekend.
However, the Spaniard was unable to prevent Manchester United from slipping to a disappointing 2-1 loss to bitter local rivals Manchester City in the top flight on Sunday.
De Gea is classed by many as being the top goalkeeper in world football on current form.
Former Liverpool FC defender Carragher believes that’s not up for debate and instead claims that the discussion should revolve around whether De Gea is the best the Premier League has ever seen.
Speaking on Sky Sports on Sunday, ex-Liverpool FC star Carragher said: “I wouldn’t say I was a big fan initially when he came in [to Manchester United].
“Massive credit to Sir Alex Ferguson because he brought him over and also stuck with him when he was having a difficult time.
“He is the best goalkeeper in the world, there’s no doubt about that.
“I always think the question now is, is he the best goalkeeper we’ve seen in the Premier League? How close is he to Peter Schmeichel?
“There’s only him in the Premier League era who’s better than De Gea. Could he surpass him?”
De Gea will be hoping to help Manchester United return to winning ways on Wednesday night when they take on Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
