Jose Mourinho makes honest admission about Juan Mata at Man United
Jose Mourinho opens up about Juan Mata after Manchester United's 2-1 win over Liverpool FC
Jose Mourinho has underlined his trust in Juan Mata at Manchester United after his performance for the Red Devils against Liverpool FC on Saturday.
The 29-year-old started the game against the Merseyside outfit at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime and played for 89 minutes in the absence of the injured Paul Pogba.
Mata has been a regular fixture in the first team for the Red Devils this season and has started 19 games for Manchester United in the Premier League so far.
He has scored three goals and made four assists in the top flight for Mourinho’s men and has been in solid form whenever called upon.
There had been question marks about Mata’s situation at Manchester United after Mourinho was appointed at Old Trafford, as he was the manager who sold the Spaniard to the Red Devils back in January 2014.
However, it is clear that Mourinho is a big fan of Mata and what he brings to his Manchester United team.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Mourinho said: “I trust his experience. I trust his capacity to move into areas where he can connect our game because he is intelligent.”
Manchester United now switch their attentions back towards Champions League affairs and their crunch clash against Sevilla in the last 16 at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
The two sides played out a goalless draw in the first leg last month.
