Jose Mourinho sends blunt warning to Man United fans ahead of Liverpool FC trip
Jose Mourinho warns Manchester United fans not to get carried away ahead of their trip to Liverpool FC
Jose Mourinho has warned Manchester United fans that they must not get carried away by his side’s strong start to the new Premier League season ahead of their crunch clash against Liverpool.
The Red Devils have been earning plenty of praise for their performances in recent weeks, with the Red Devils having started the new campaign in fine form.
Manchester United have won six of their opening seven games in the Premier League to leave them in second place in the table and level on points with leaders Manchester City.
The Red Devils endured something of a stuttering campaign in the Premier League under Mourinho last term as they ended up in sixth place in the table.
However, they still managed to qualify for the Champions League by winning the Europa League last term.
And Mourinho has told Manchester United fans not to draw too many conclusions from the Red Devils’ strong start this time around.
Mourinho told Portuguese newspaper Record: “Nothing happened yet. Last year the season started much harder and ended very well, this year it started very well and we don’t know how it will end.
“In another league it could be said that a team that starts with seven wins and a draw would almost mean the title.
“But in England it doesn’t mean anything, not even that we will finish in the first four places.”
Manchester United travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool in their next Premier League game on Saturday 14 October.
Jurgen Klopp’s side head into that game looking to get back to winning ways after their 1-1 draw against Newcastle United at St James’ Park before the international break.
