Jose Mourinho has admitted that he has been disappointed by Manchester United’s lack of transfer activity in recent weeks.

The Red Devils are looking to build a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next season after they finished in second place and without a trophy last term.

Manchester United have been linked with a whole host of players this summer, but they have so far only signed Diogo Dalot, Fred and Lee Grant.

Mourinho has now confirmed that he was hoping to sign at least two more players ahead of the transfer deadline on 9 August, but he admits that the Red Devils may now have to just settle for one nw signing.

Speaking at a news conference on Saturday during Manchester United’s pre-season tour of the USA, Mourinho said: “I would like to have two more players.

“I think I am not going to have two. I think it’s possible I am going to have one. It’s possible.

“I gave a list to the club of five names a few months ago and I wait to see if it is possible to have one of these players.

“If it is possible it is possible, if it is not possible it is not possible. If it is possible, good, if it is not possible we keep fighting, working and believing in the players that we have.”

Manchester United will be aiming to be one of the main contenders for the Premier League title next season.

The Red Devils ended up without a trophy last term in what was Mourinho’s second campaign at the club, and they have not won the Premier League since their famous final triumph under Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.

The Red Devils won the Europa League and League Cup in Mourinho’s first campaign at the club.
