Jose Mourinho breaks silence after Man United star’s injury setback
Jose Mourinho insists that Manchester United will be able to cope without the injured Marouane Fellaini
Jose Mourinho has insisted that Marouane Fellaini’s injury problem is not a blow to Manchester United.
The midfielder has returned to Carrington to be assessed after he suffered a knee problem while on international duty with Belgium in recent days.
It has not yet been officially confirmed how long Fellaini will be out of action for but he is expected to definitely miss Manchester United’s crunch clash with Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime.
However, despite the disappointment of Fellaini’s setback, Mourinho has insisted that his team will simply take the latest injury problem it its stride.
Asked if Fellaini’s setback is a blow to Manchester United, Mourinho told Sky Sports: “No blow, no problem.
“We don’t cry with injuries, we may cry with the process that leads to injures, but we don’t cry. We just trust the players that are going to help.”
Mourinho’s Manchester United team have been in superb form so far this season after having won six of their opening seven Premier League games.
The Red Devils are currently second in the Premier League table and level on points with leaders Manchester City heading into their crunch clash with Liverpool this weekend.
Mourinho is aiming to become the first Manchester United manager to lead the Red Devils to the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s final campaign in charge back in 2013.
Manchester United finished sixth in Mourinho’s first campaign in charge last season.
