Jose Mourinho complains that Manchester United's fans were too quiet at Old Trafford on Saturday
Jose Mourinho has claimed that Manchester United’s home fans were too quiet during the club’s 2-0 victory over Leicester City at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The Red Devils continued their strong start to the new season by wrapping up an impressive victory over the Foxes, with goals from Marcus Rashford and Marouane Fellaini in the second half securing all three points.
The win left Manchester United flying high at the top of the Premier League table, with Mourinho’s men having scored 10 goals without reply this term.
However, Mourinho complained after the final whistle that he didn’t hear enough from the home fans at Old Trafford before Rashford opened the scoring.
Speaking at his post-match news conference at Old Trafford, Mourinho said: “I didn’t see the first goal. I was speaking with Jesse Lingard because Lingard was going to be the next player to come on
“I saw the ball in the net and all the guys jumping around. It was the first time I saw the crowd. They were very quiet.
“It was easy to know that was a goal because it was the first time I really understood the stadium was full.”
Manchester United will now look to continue their strong start to the season when they take on Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium after the international break on Saturday 9 September.
The Red Devils are aiming to challenge for the Premier League title this season after coming up short last term and ended up in sixth place in the table.
Manchester United are preparing for a return to the Champions League next month, though, after their Europa League triumph last season.
