Ander Herrera sends ‘thankful’ message to Man United fans about Jose Mourinho
The Manchester United midfielder lifts the lid on what life is like playing under Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford...
Ander Herrera admits he is grateful to get the chance to play under Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho.
The Red Devils appointed Mourinho as Louis van Gaal’s successor at the end of the 2015-16 season after Manchester United finished in fifth place in the Premier League table.
Mourinho was unable to oversee an improvement in the Premier League following a disastrous sixth-place finish after 15 draws in 38 games last season.
However, the Manchester United manager picked up three trophies during his first season at Old Trafford after making four signings in the 2016 summer transfer window.
Mourinho won the Community Shield and the EFL Cup to secure Manchester United’s second and third trophies since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.
The Red Devils were 2-0 winners against Dutch giants Ajax in the Europa League final to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.
Herrera was one of Mourinho’s standout performers throughout the campaign and was named Manchester United’s player of the season.
“Mourinho is a winner – three trophies in his first season shows how he works and the way he is and I am really happy playing for him,” Herrera told Sport360.
“Hopefully I can do it for a long time. I am going to learn, to experience the time with him and try to improve but I can be very thankful for all the managers I’ve had.”
