Gary Pallister: Why Eric Bailly reminds me of Man United legend
Eric Bailly shares similarities with Manchester United legends Steve Bruce and Nemanja Vidic, according to Gary Pallister
Gary Pallister has likened Eric Bailly to Manchester United legends Steve Bruce and Nemanja Vidic.
The Ivory Coast international moved to Manchester United in a £30m deal from Spanish side Villarreal in the 2016 summer transfer window.
Bailly struggled with a series of injury problems during his first season at Old Trafford to prevent the Ivorian from forging a partnership with his new team-mates.
However, the 24-year-old has made impressive start to the 2017-18 campaign alongside England international Phil Jones to help Manchester United keep pace with Manchester City.
The Red Devils have only conceded two goals and have kept six clean sheets in their opening seven Premier League games.
Manchester United will make the trip to bitter rivals Liverpool for their Premier League clash at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
Former Red Devils defender Pallister sees similarities between Bailly and Manchester United legends Bruce and Vidic.
“Bailly loves to defend and maybe even a mould of Vidic or a Steve Bruce, he is aggressive,” Pallister told BetSafe.
“He loves to defend and if I was a centre-half then I would love to play with a guy like him so I think defensively we have been pretty sound, we are scoring goals quite freely but we have not had a massive test, we expected more from Everton.”
Manchester United signed Sweden international Victor Lindelof in a £30m deal from Portuguese champions Benfica in the 2017 summer transfer window.
The Red Devils are looking to win their first Premier League title since 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson won his final top-flight crown.
Manchester United have only finished in the top four once since Ferguson stood down as manager.
