Eric Bailly: What I really think about Man United summer signings
The Manchester United defender welcomes the new additions to the squad despite increased competition for a first-team place

Eric Bailly has issued his backing for Manchester United’s summer signings.
The Red Devils finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season but won the EFL Cup and the Europa League to secure a return to the Champions League.
Manchester United struggled for consistency throughout their first season under Jose Mourinho as the Red Devils scored less Premier League goals than Bournemouth.
The 20-time English champions made three additions to their Red Devils squad in the summer transfer window ahead of a return to the Champions League.
Mourinho signed Victor Lindelof in a £30.7m deal from Portuguese giants Benfica to improve their defensive options before Manchester United made Romelu Lukaku their second most-expensive signing of all-time at Old Trafford.
Defending Premier League champions Chelsea made the bizarre decision to sell Nemanja Matic to the Red Devils in a £40m deal.
Lukaku has already scored 10 times in nine games in the Champions League and the Premier League, while Matic has given the Manchester United team better balance.
Asked about the changes to the Manchester United squad in recent months, Ivory Coast international Bailly issued his back for the new signings.
“It’s very important for us, it’s important for the team, it’s important for the manager, and when it’s like that, there is also competition amongst ourselves, so we always have to improve because I don’t think anyone is automatically entitled to their position in that team,” Bailly told Manchester United’s website.
“As I’ve said, you have to take advantage of every opportunity the manager gives you.”
Manchester United are sitting level on points with Premier League leaders Manchester City at the top of the table.
