Jamie Redknapp uses Tottenham to make point about Man United
The Liverpool legend believes Manchester United were right to settle for a point at Anfield after Spurs left Old Trafford with nothing

Jamie Redknapp believes Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 loss to Manchester United proves Jose Mourinho was right to stifle Liverpool at Anfield earlier this month.
Spurs enjoyed the lion’s share of possession but the north London side were unable to find a way past a resilient Manchester United defence at Old Trafford.
Mourinho brought on France international Anthony Martial with 20 minutes to go in the Premier League clash and the 21-year-old scored an 81st-minute winner to secure a 1-0 victory for the hosts.
Manchester United were heavily criticised earlier this month when Mourinhio’s men showed little adventure in a goalless draw with top-six rivals Liverpool at Anfield.
Mourinho’s negative tactics were scrutinised as Manchester United lost ground on title rivals Manchester City.
However, Redknapp believes the Red Devils made the right decision to settle for a point at Anfield given Tottenham’s inability to leave Old Trafford with a positive result.
“This is why I didn’t understand the criticism Man United drew at Liverpool,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“That’s what Spurs have to do. They’ve got to go and play ugly sometimes to get results. They have to get back on that bus with at least a point.”
Manchester United are looking to win their first Premier League title since 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson won his 13th top-flight crown as the Red Devils manage.
The 20-time English champions signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic in the summer transfer window.
