Jesse Lingard claims that Manchester United have what it takes to win the Premier League title next season.
The Red Devils struggled to find consistent form in the Premier League this term following Jose Mourinho’s appointment at Old Trafford last summer.
However, Mourinho’s men made up for their disappointing league form by winning the EFL Cup and Europa League to secure their place in next season’s Champions League.
Much has been made about Manchester United’s struggles in the Premier League under Mourinho this season.
However, Red Devils winger Lingard is convinced that his side have what it takes to challenge for the top title next term.
Speaking to Manchester United’s website, Lingard said: “I think finishing inside the top four and winning the league was our ambition at the start of the season.
“We know we’ve got the players capable of winning the league but it didn’t happen – we’ve had to play through the Europa League to get to the Champions League.
“Individually, we could have done better and as a team we could have done better, but football is all about learning and you’re always going to learn with every game. We’ll take this experience into next season.”
Manchester United will go straight into the group stage of next season’s Champions League after their Europa League final triumph over Ajax last week in Stockholm.
The Red Devils will also play either Real Madrid or Juventus in the Uefa Super Cup in August.
