Juan Mata has wished Marouane Fellaini a speedy recovery from injury as the Manchester United midfielder kept his fingers crossed none of his other team-mates have picked up injury problems.

The Red Devils will be without the Belgium international for the trip to Anfield on Saturday afternoon as Jose Mourinho’s men look to extend their unbeaten record in the Premier League this term.

Fellaini has been an unlikely hero for Manchester United in recent weeks and the defensive midfielder scored twice in a 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace last time out.

The Red Devils midfielder suffered a knee injury during Belgium’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina in their World Cup qualifier in Sarajevo on Saturday evening.

Manchester United have scored 21 goals and have kept six clean sheets in their opening seven games in the 2017-18 Premier League season so far.

Mata admitted that he was nervously waiting for his Manchester United team-mate to return to Carrington to assess the injury situation ahead of Saturday’s trip to their bitter rivals.

“I hope that none of my team-mates has physical problems in the second game with the national teams as it was the case with Marouane Fellaini, to whom I wish a speedy recovery,” Mata wrote in his personal blog.

Manchester United have won six of their opening seven Premier League fixtures but Mourinho’s side haven’t come up against a team in the top six so far this term.

The Red Devils have only conceded two goals in the top-flight campaign so far.
