New Man United signing reveals Mourinho had bigger impact than Pogba in summer move
Romelu Lukaku reveals the role Jose Mourinho played in his Manchester United transfer this summer

Romelu Lukaku has revealed that Jose Mourinho played a bigger role in his Manchester United transfer than Paul Pogba.
The Belgium international became Manchester United’s second summer signing earlier this month after Lukaku completed a £75m switch to Old Trafford from Everton.
Lukaku opted to move to Manchester United ahead of interest from his former club Chelsea to link up with his close pal Pogba.
The 24-year-old striker scored 25 times in 36 games in the Premier League last season to finish as the division’s second-highest goal-scorer.
Lukaku was holidaying with Pogba in Los Angeles in the days before his summer transfer was officially confirmed by Manchester United.
The new Manchester United signing’s close friendship with Pogba has been talked up in recent days with suggestions the world record star had a big role in Lukaku’s move.
However, Lukaku insisted Mourinho’s plans for the club and the striker was more influential than Pogba in his summer switch.
“We were just on holiday together. At the end of the day I had to make my own choices,” Lukaku told the Daily Mail.
“It was the conversation I had with the manager that really convinced me the most, the plans and how he wanted to rebuild the club and he wanted me to be part of it.
“I am grateful for the chance.”
Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table but won the EFL Cup and the Europa League in Mourinho’s first season.
