Michael Owen predicts how many goals Man United signing will score this season
The ex Liverpool striker tips Manchester United signing Romelu Lukaku to score 30 goals in all competitions this season
Michael Owen believes Romelu Lukaku is capable of scoring 30 goals in all competitions for Manchester United this season.
The Red Devils forward continued his excellent record in the 2017-18 season so far with two goals in Manchester United’s 4-1 win against CSKA Moscow on Wednesday night.
The 20-time English champions signed Lukaku in a £75m deal from Premier League rivals Everton in the summer transfer window to bolster their attacking options.
And Lukaku has already netted six times in six Premier League games to hit the ground running in the Premier League and move levels on goals with Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Morata.
Doubts about Lukaku’s ability to step up to the Champions League have been quashed following a return of three goals against Basel and CSKA Moscow in September.
Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Owen backed the club’s second most-expensive signing Lukaku to score at least 30 goals in all competitions in the 2017-18 campaign.
“All he has to do is be fit and be available for selection,” Owen told BT Sport on Wednesday night.
“Just by playing in this team at the moment, you’re going to get lots of chances. He is going to be happy.
“I’d be surpsied if he doesn’t hit the 30 mark in all competitions this season.”
Manchester United will host the Premier League’s basement club Crystal Palace at Old Trafford in their next game at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.
The Red Devils signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic and Everton forward Lukaku in the summer transfer window.
