Gareth Southgate admits his delight at how Jesse Lingard has been performing for Man United of late

Gareth Southgate has admitted that he has been thrilled by Jesse Lingard’s recent good form for Manchester United.
The midfielder seems to have won the trust of Jose Mourinho in recent months and he has been a regular fixture in the first team at Old Trafford.
The 25-year-old has been in superb form for the Red Devils and has scored eight goals and made four assists in the Premier League for Mourinho’s men to help them up into second place in the top flight table.
Lingard will be hoping to earn a place in Southgate’s World Cup squad for this summer’s tournament in Russia.
And the England manager has admitted his delight at how Lingard has been stepping his game up at Manchester United in recent months.
Speaking at a news conference on Friday, Southgate said: “I’m delighted for Jesse.
“He’s a player we’ve worked with for three or four years from the Under 21s and this year he is starting to finish the chances.”
Lingard will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action after the international break with a home clash against Swansea City at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils booked their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup against Tottenham after beating Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford in the last eight last weekend.
