John Aldridge sends warning to Man United ahead of Liverpool FC clash
John Aldridge warns Manchester United that Liverpool FC have players capable of stepping their game up against top opponents

John Aldridge has warned Manchester United that Liverpool have plenty of players suited for big games ahead of Saturday’s clash at Anfield in the Premier League.
The Red Devils head into the game as the favourites on current form after having won six of their opening seven Premier League games.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have been struggling to find consistent form so far this season and have only won one of their last seven games in all competitions.
However, the Merseyside outfit have been in good form against the top teams in recent seasons, and Jurgen Klopp’s men thrashed Arsenal 4-0 at Anfield back in August.
And former Liverpool star Aldridge feels that the Reds have a number of players who seem to step their game up in the big games.
Writing in his column for the Liverpool Echo, Aldridge said: “This weekend’s game is a big one, with a lot riding on it. The gap between the club could be 10 points on Saturday, or it could be four.
“That’s a huge difference at this stage of the season, and both teams will know it.
“I think Liverpool have a few players who are suited to the big games; our record over the last 18 months suggests as much.
“There’s a focus and a discipline that sometimes can go missing when we’re overwhelming favourites to win a match.”
Liverpool are aiming to return to winning ways this weekend after having been held to a 1-1 draw by Newcastle United before the international break.
The Reds are currently seventh, while Manchester United are second in the table and level on points with leaders Manchester City.
Jose Mourinho is aiming to become the first manager to lead Manchester United to the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s final campaign in charge in the 2012-13 campaign.
