Man United were beaten by Liverpool FC to signing of 26-year-old – report
Man United were beaten to the signing of Xherdan Shaqiri by Liverpool FC this summer, say reports

Liverpool FC beat Manchester United in the race to sign Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City in the summer transfer window, according to reports in the Swiss media.
Swiss outlet Blick, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that Jose Mourinho was keen on bringing the 26-year-old to Old Trafford following Stoke’s relegation from the Premier League last season.
Liverpool FC ended up completing a deal to sign Shaqiri last month as Jurgen Klopp continued to bolster his squad significantly ahead of the new season.
According to the same story, Mourinho was unable to even get close to negotiating a deal for Shaqiri after Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp swooped quickly and managed to convince the Switzerland international to sign for the Reds.
The same report says that Shaqiri was impressed by Klopp’s nature and opted to immediately sign for Liverpool FC, despite being aware of Manchester United’s interest.
Liverpool FC got their Premier League season off to a strong start at the weekend as they notched up an impressive 4-0 win over West Ham United at Anfield on Sunday.
Shaqiri came on to play the final eight minutes of the clash as he made his Premier League debut for Liverpool FC on Merseyside.
