Romelu Lukaku lifts lid on Paul Pogba’s role in Man United transfer decision
Paul Pogba played a role in convincing Romelu Lukaku to settle on a move to Manchester United, according to the Belgium striker

Romelu Lukaku has revealed Paul Pogba’s influence in the striker’s decision to move to Manchester United.
The Red Devils still haven’t confirmed that a deal has been completed to sign the Everton striker but Manchester United announced on Friday that a £75m agreement had been reached with the Toffees.
Lukaku is set to undergo a medical in Los Angeles with the Europa League winners and put pen to paper on a contract as the Belgium international reunites with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
Pogba has been entertaining Manchester United fans in recent days by posting a series of photos and video with Lukaku to hint that a transfer deal was imminent.
Of course, both Premier League stars share the same outspoken agent Mino Raiola, which presumably has helped to kindle their friendship.
And Lukaku has revealed that Pogba’s positive feedback about life at Manchester United helped to convince the 24-year-old striker to opt to move to Old Trafford ahead of a return to Chelsea.
“I’ve been talking to [Pogba] for about seven or eight years. And now he’s living in Manchester. I live in Manchester,” Lukaku told ESPN.
“He lives like down the road from where I live, so we’re together on a daily basis. He was explaining to me how it went at the club, and it triggered something in my head.
“When the opportunity came, I didn’t have to think twice. I’m really excited. All of [the Man United players].
“I think they’re all top players, a good group of guys that is hungry to win trophies. And to play in front of those fans, everything is set there to perform. But, you know, I have to work harder than I’m doing now.
“I know the road is still far, but I’m willing to go on that path and grab the opportunity that I get.”
Lukaku moved to Everton from Chelsea in 2014 after Mourinho failed to guarantee the Belgium striker regular first-team football at the west London club.
