Jose Mourinho reacts to Marcus Rashford’s new Man United shirt number
Jose Mourinho congratulates Marcus Rashford on being handed the number 10 shirt at Man United

Jose Mourinho has congratulated Marcus Rashford after he was handed the number 10 shirt at Manchester United.
The striker has been confirmed as the Red Devils’ new No10 ahead of the new season after the number was vacated by Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s exit midway through last season.
Before that, Wayne Rooney had held the number 10 shirt at Manchester United for 11 years.
Rashford becomes the first homegrown player to take the number 10 shirt at Manchester United since David Beckham back in the 1996/97 campaign.
And Mourinho believes that Rashford fully deserves to be recognised by being handed the shirt number.
Speaking to MUTV, Mourinho said: “He wanted it. He always wanted it. Of course, he respected the big Rooney and then Zlatan wanted to have it. Of course, he was in the shadow, waiting for the opportunity and now the shirt is empty.
“It’s something fantastic for the kid, let’s give the shirt to him.”
Manchester United will be looking to challenge for the Premier League title next season after the Red Devils finished in second place and without a trophy last season.
The Red Devils have not won the Premier League since their famous final triumph under Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2013.
Manchester United have so far signed Diogo Dalot, Fred and Lee Grant this summer as they prepare for Mourinho’s third season in charge of the Red Devils.
It remains to be seen whether they will bring in any more new signings before the close of the transfer window on Thursday afternoon.
