Jamie Redknapp was full of praise for Juan Mata after the Spanish playmaker scored both of Manchester United’s goals in their 2-2 draw with Leicester City on Saturday night.

The Red Devils fell behind in the first half when Jamie Vardy finished off a sweeping counter-attacking move for the hosts.

However, Jose Mourinho’s men fought back through Mata before half-time, with the Spanish playmaker netting a brilliant low finish to equalise for the visitors.

And Mata then netted a superb free-kick in the second half to put Manchester United on course towards victory at the King Power Stadium.

However, Harry Maguire netted a last-gasp equaliser for the Foxes in the final minute of stoppage time as Manchester United threw away their lead.

The result left Manchester United 13 points behind leaders Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title.

However, despite the disappointing result for Manchester United, former Liverpool FC midfielder Redknapp was hugely impressed by Mata’s contribution on Saturday night.

Speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of the game, Redknapp said: “His brain is a computer.

“He realises there’s nowhere he can go [for his first goal]. He’s got to go low, and he just stuns the ball into the floor through the defender’s legs.

“Juan Mata is probably the only player on that pitch who’s capable of that. It was a brilliant goal.”

Manchester United, who finished sixth last term, will aim to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Burnley at Old Trafford on Boxing Day.
