Steven Gerrard: I can’t believe what Man United, Chelsea did in the summer
Steven Gerrard admits that he wishes Manchester United didn't sign Nemanja Matic from Chelsea

Steven Gerrard has admitted that he wishes Manchester United didn’t sign Nemanja Matic from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
The Serbian midfielder has been getting used to life at Old Trafford since signing for the Red Devils after he was deemed to be surplus to requirements at Chelsea and allowed to leave to sign for their Premier League rivals in the summer transfer window.
Matic has slotted seamlessly into the first team at Old Trafford and has started all eight of their Premier League games so far this season.
Gerrard came up against Matic a number of times when Chelsea took on Liverpool during the latter stages of his career.
And the Liverpool legend admits that he couldn’t believe it when the Blues opted to let him move to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.
Speaking to BT Sport on Wednesday night, Gerrard said: “I couldn’t believe it [when Chelsea let him go].
“I think out of all the Manchester United players I’ve seen them sign over the years, he’s the one, as a Liverpool fan, I thought ‘Oh no. I hope not,’ and then it happened.”
Matic will be expecting to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils take on Huddersfield Town in the Premier League on Saturday.
Jose Mourinho’s men, who finished sixth last term, are currently second in the table and two points behind leaders Manchester City after eight games of the new season.
