Jose Mourinho confirms two Man United stars will miss Sevilla trip
Jose Mourinho delivers the latest Man United injury update ahead of Wednesday's trip to Sevilla
Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo are both likely to miss Manchester United’s Champions League trip to Sevilla on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils boss confirmed that both of the defenders are not on course to be fit for the Red Devils’ trip to Spain for the first leg of their last 16 tie this week.
Mourinho did, however, reveal that Marcus Rashford, Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia should be able to make the trip as the Red Devils look to progress in Europe’s elite club competition.
But the Portuguese coach gave a less encouraging update about defenders Jones and Rojo.
Speaking to BT Sport, Mourinho said: “Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Marouane [Fellaini], Zlatan [Ibrahimovic]… I don’t think they have any chance, so we arrive at this crucial moment with some problems.
“But I think mentality is very important. And we have a strong team, strong bonding, strong team mentality.
“We know it is a very difficult match – but we go for it.”
Manchester United head into their clash with Sevilla after having booked their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals with a 2-0 victory at Huddersfield Town on Saturday night.
Mourinho’s side are currently in second place in the Premier League table as they look to at least try and finish in the top four this season.
Manchester United have not won the Premier League title since their famous final triumph under Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2013.
Indeed, the Red Devils finished in sixth place last term as they won both the Europa League and League Cup under Mourinho.
