Sky Sports pundit hints at Jose Mourinho Man United exit
Jamie Redknapp delivers his verdict on the Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho situation at Manchester United
Jose Mourinho is likely to leave Manchester United before Paul Pogba does, according to Jamie Redknapp.
The pair’s apparently fractious relationship has once again been making the headlines this week amid reports of a fresh bust-up between the pair in recent days.
Mourinho confirmed on Tuesday night that Pogba is no longer the vice-captain of the club in a fresh twist in the situation between the pair.
Pogba has widely been criticised for failing to produce consistent performances under Mourinho at Old Trafford, but he was in fine form as he helped France to win the World Cup in Russia this summer.
And former Liverpool FC midfielder Redknapp has now given his take on the situation, which seemingly continues to present itself as a serious problem at Old Trafford.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Tuesday night, Redknapp said: “You can sack Jose Mourinho, but you can’t sack Paul Pogba. What are you going to do with him?
“I’ve been in dressing rooms where the manager has lost the players and all you get is cliques. Players will get into their corners.
“That’s how I see this Manchester United dressing room. I can visualise it now. There’s so many unhappy people.
“Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think it was the brightest thing Paul Pogba ever said at the weekend, but what I will say is what this club does is attack.
“That has always been the blueprint here, to go for teams, and I don’t think Jose Mourinho does that. That’s not being disrespectful, it’s a fact.
“He’s one of the greatest managers ever, look at what he’s won, but is he the right fit for Man United and their style of play? I don’t think he is.
“The modern-day manager has got to be friends with these guys. You can’t fall out with them.”
Manchester United were knocked out of the League Cup in the third round on Tuesday night as Frank Lampard’s Derby County side claimed victory on penalties after a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils will now dust themselves down as they prepare to take on West Ham United in the Premier League at the London Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.
