Jose Mourinho has identified five defensive players he wants Manchester United to target in the summer transfer window, according to reports in the British media.
Metro is reporting that the Red Devils boss is keen to bolster his rearguard options this summer as he looks to try and transform his team into genuine Premier League title contenders for next season.
The same story says that Mourinho has his eye on Real Madrid star Raphael Varane, Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld, Barcelona centre-half Samuel Umtiti, Tottenham’s Danny Rose and Valencia full-back Jose Gaya.
It seems that Manchester United’s priority in the summer transfer window will be to bolster their defensive options after the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in the January market.
The same article says that a number of players could also be on their way out of Manchester United this summer.
Luke Shaw, Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind are all reportedly facing the chop as the summer transfer window draws closer for the Red Devils.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are currently preparing for their Premier League clash against Swansea City at Old Trafford after the international break.
The Red Devils will take on Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup semi-finals next month.
