Gary Neville: Man United star will be one of the best ever
Gary Neville explains why he thinks David De Gea will be one of the best goalkeepers of all time

Gary Neville believes that David De Gea will go down as one of the best goalkeepers of all time following his recent sparkling form for Manchester United.
The Spanish shot-stopper has been earning huge amounts of praise for his strong displays for Jose Mourinho’s men this season and he was particularly impressive during the 3-1 victory over Arsenal at The Emirates last weekend.
De Gea could not prevent Manchester United from slipping to a disappointing 2-1 loss to bitter local rivals Manchester City in the derby clash at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
The Spaniard is widely regarded as one of the top goalkeepers in world football on current form.
However, former Manchester United defender Neville believes that it won’t be long until the 27-year-old is considered to be one of the best shot-stoppers in history.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Sunday, Neville said: “I still say Peter Schmeichel is the best even today just because of the longevity but I think in a few years time we’ll probably be looking at De Gea and thinking that he’s probably one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time. I genuinely believe that.”
De Gea, who joined the Red Devils from Atletico Madrid back in 2011, will be hoping to help Manchester United return to winning ways on Wednesday night when the Red Devils host Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils’ defeat by Manchester City left Mourinho’s men 11 points behind the leaders after 16 games of the new Premier League season.
