Jose Mourinho sends clear message to Man United fans about Paul Pogba
Jose Mourinho delivers the latest update for Manchester United fans about Paul Pogba's injury
Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Paul Pogba will be out of action for Manchester United for a few games due to injury but refused to confirm exactly how many.
The Manchester United midfielder limped off during the 3-0 Champions League win over Basel in midweek at Old Trafford after picking up a hamstring problem.
Pogba was then pictured on crutches later in the week as he begins his battle to get back fit for Manchester United as quickly as possible.
Mourinho confirmed that Pogba would be missing for “a few” games but did not place an exact time on how long he expects the Frenchman to be out of action for.
Speaking at a news conference on Friday, Mourinho said: “He is injured and he cannot play on Sunday.
“We know that, for a few matches, I don’t know how many, but I expect we are to play without Pogba for a few matches.
“That is an opportunity for others and the others are ready to get that opportunity, and to perform.
“Of course we feel sorry that we lose a player but we are calm and confident, because it is an opportunity for people who are ready to take it.”
The first game Pogba will miss is Manchester United’s crunch clash against Everton at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils head into the game looking to get back to winning ways in the top flight after having been held to a draw by Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium in their most recent Premier League outing last weekend.
Manchester United are aiming to win the Premier League title for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement back in 2013.
