Sky Sports pundit claims Solskjaer is being ‘unfair’ to Rashford at Man United

Graeme Souness believes that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is being “unfair” on Marcus Rashford by making him the main man up front for Manchester United at such a young age.
Rashford, 21, got his season off to a perfect start on Sunday afternoon when he scored twice in Manchester United’s thumping 4-0 win over Chelsea FC at Old Trafford.
The England international is likely to carry a lot of the burden up front for Manchester United this season after the Red Devils opted to sell Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan and not bring in a direct replacement.
Rashford took 44 touches and converted two of his four shots during a solid display for the Red Devils against the Blues on Sunday afternoon.
However, former Liverpool FC star fears that too much is being asked of Rashford at such a young age.
Speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of Sunday’s game, Souness said: “Rashford is going to be a player but at 21, last year he was being asked to be the main man at Man United.
“You’re talking about bringing 17 and 18-year-olds to come in and do a job on a regular basis for Man United. I think [for] young players that’s very, very difficult. It’s Man United we’re talking about.
“Man United should be able to get something better than what they’ve got up front right now.
“In your [Gary Neville’s] time here as a player, would Rashford have played every week on a regular basis? That’s the point I’m making.
“He wouldn’t have played every week, he would have been coming into a team that was firing on all cylinders, doing well, winning trophies and being slowly introduced.
“And I think it’s really unfair on him at 21, or 20 last year, being asked to be the main man at Man United.
“The reality is, from this moment on with the transfer window gone, they’re asking Rashford at 21 to be the main striker at this football club.
“He got 10 goals I think from 33 games last year, it’s not enough for United. All the pressure is on his young shoulders.”
Manchester United will return to Premier League action on Monday night when they take on Wolves away from home.
The Red Devils are aiming to try and break back into the top four this season after they finished sixth and without a trophy last term.
