Robbie Savage makes two Man United predictions
The BBC Sport pundit is backing Manchester United to finish in the top four and beat PSG in the Champions League round of 16
Robbie Savage believes Manchester United are capable of finishing in the top four and pulling off a shock result against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made a brilliant start to his interim reign after the Norwegian took over the reins from Jose Mourinho last month.
The former Manchester United manager has led the Red Devils to six successive Premier League victories and two wins in the FA Cup.
Goals from Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford sealed a 2-1 win against Brighton at Old Trafford to move Manchester United to within three points of fourth-placed Chelsea FC.
The Red Devils booked their place in the FA Cup fifth round after a brilliant 3-1 win against Arsenal at The Emirates on Friday night.
Manchester United will take on Ligue 1 leaders PSG in the Champions League round of 16 next month.
The Red Devils will be the underdogs given PSG have won 17 of their 19 games in Ligue 1, only drawing two games.
Former Leicester midfielder Savage believes Manchester United could upset the odds against PSG if Solskjaer can resolve their defensive problems.
“It’s a great dilemma,” Savage told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“Before he took the job, I wouldn’t have said Man United would finish in the top four. [But now] Man United are three points behind fourth place.
“The confidence they are playing with, I wouldn’t put it past them to beat PSG. Seven games later since Jose Mourinho was sacked, I think they are capable of turning over PSG. But can PSG keep them out?”
Manchester United have only finished in the Premier League’s top four twice since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
Solskjaer took over the reins of the club with Manchester United trailing Chelsea FC by 11 points, but the momentum is now with the Red Devils in the top-four race.
