Kristof Terreur is not expecting to see Romelu Lukaku move to Inter Milan from Man United this summer, say reports
Romelu Lukaku does not look likely to move to Inter Milan from Manchester United this summer, according to Belgian reporter Kristof Terreur.
The Manchester United striker has been touted as a possible target for the Serie A side in recent months after his lack of playing time at Old Trafford towards the end of last season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Lukaku reported for training at Carrington on Monday as he and his Manchester United team-mates began their pre-season preparations ahead of Solskjaer’s first full campaign in charge.
It remains to be seen whether Inter Milan will firm up their apparent interest in landing the Belgian forward, but reporter Terreur seems to think that a deal is unlikely because of the lack of funds available to the Italian side.
Speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast, Terreur replied when asked if he thinks Lukaku will join Inter: “At the moment, I’ll say it won’t happen because Inter don’t have the money for the transfer.
“They can spend the money over a few years but Man United want the cash immediately. Inter can’t spend the money up front.
“Lukaku has been clear he wants to leave. He doesn’t want to be second choice. I spoke to him a few weeks ago and he’s set his mind on Italy. He wants to go there.”
Manchester United are looking to try and break back into the top four next season after they finished in sixth place in the Premier League last term.
The Red Devils have already signed Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer as Solskjaer prepares his squad for the new campaign.
