Ryan Giggs impressed with ‘brave’ Man United star
Ryan Giggs delivers his verdict on Daniel James' strong start to life at Man United this season
Ryan Giggs has admitted that he has been delighted by Daniel James’ strong start to life at Manchester United this season.
The midfielder has been getting used to life at Old Trafford after having signed for the Red Devils from Swansea City in the summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old has been a regular fixture in the first team under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and he has scored three goals in seven Premier League appearances for the Red Devils so far this term.
James has started all but one of Manchester United’s seven Premier League games this season and he has been earning plenty of praise for his energetic displays.
The midfielder has also been playing under Ryan Giggs for the Wales national team, and the former Manchester United midfielder has admitted that he has been delighted by the way James has started the season for his new club.
Speaking in an interview quoted by the Daily Express, Giggs said of James: “Yeah [I’m happy to have him at Wales] and also he is improving every game.
“His final ball, I said that’s the thing with young wingers, they’re up and down with their final delivery, can they score more goals?
“And he’s brave, he’s brave both with and without the ball.
“He always keeps you interested because he can go both ways, he can dribble, he can pass and run, so he can penetrate behind.
His fitness also, end of last season, beginning of last season, he was struggling, he was coming off after 60-70 minutes.
“But now his fitness is getting better and he’s a threat, he’s a threat every time he gets the ball.
“And also when he loses the ball he doesn’t sulk, he wins it back quickly, which all wingers should do really.”
James will be expecting to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action with a trip to Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.
Before that, the Red Devils will travel to AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League on Thursday night.
