Reporter: Man United still out to make this one signing
Man United are aiming to sign a new defender before Thursday's transfer deadline, according to Duncan Castles

Manchester United are still aiming to try and sign a new defender before Thursday’s transfer deadline, according to reporter Duncan Castles.
The Red Devils are thought to still be eager to bolster their squad ahead of the new season as they prepare for their third campaign under Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
Manchester United have been strongly linked with a number of defenders in recent days, including the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Harry Maguire and Jerome Boateng.
It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will be able to get any deals across the line before the transfer window closes at 17:00 on Thursday.
Now, Sunday Times reporter Castles has claimed that the Red Devils are out to try and bring in a new defender as the transfer window deadline draws nearer.
Speaking on the Transfer Window podcast, Castles said: “They are scrambling around the market trying to sign Jerome Boateng.
“They have gone back in to sign Alderweireld to try and get the price down. They are even thinking about a world-record bid for Maguire.”
Manchester United will be aiming to be one of the main challengers for the Premier League title next season after they finished in second place and without a trophy last term.
The Red Devils are aiming to try and win the Premier League title for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s final campaign in charge at Old Trafford back in 2013.
