Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals his delight at Mason Greenwood's recent performances for Man United
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has heaped praise on Mason Greenwood following his impressive performance in Manchester United’s 4-0 win over AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The 18-year-old played the full 90 minutes and scored two of the Red Devils’ goals as he helped Solskjaer’s men to make it three wins in a row in all competitions.
Greenwood has been impressing whenever he has been called upon by Solskjaer this season, with the teenage forward having scored six goals in all competitions so far this term.
He has only made one Premier League start for Manchester United so far this term but he has made a further 11 appearances from the bench for the Red Devils.
And Solskjaer has admitted that he was delighted by Greenwood’s quality performance during the Europa League win on Thursday night.
Speaking at his post-match news conference after the game, Solskjaer said of Greenwood: “Different class as a finisher, when he’s in and around the box you expect him to get a shot off and on target, because he’s so precise in his finishing.
“He’s good and honest in the way he creates space for himself. Very pleased with his performance.
“He’s a different type of player to Wazza [Rooney], he must have enjoyed tonight but the thing with Mason is he’s just going to look forward to Sunday now.
“He’s not going to rest on his laurels, it’s just natural for him to score goals, it doesn’t matter what level he’s at.”
Manchester United will return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon when they take on Everton at Old Trafford in front of their home fans.
The Red Devils are aiming to make it three wins on the spin in the English top flight after their recent impressive victories over Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.
