Ole Gunnar Solskjaer chose to single out Marcus Rashford for special praise after the forward fired Manchester United to a 2-1 win at Chelsea FC in the League Cup fourth round on Wednesday night.

The England international gave the visitors the lead in the 25th minute from the penalty spot at Stamford Bridge, but the home side equalised in the 61st minute thanks to Michy Batshuayi’s strike.

However, Rashford ended up having the final say of the game when he netted a stunning free-kick in the 73rd minute to win the tie for Solskjaer’s men.

Rashford has scored seven goals and made three assists in all competitions for Solskjaer’s men so far this season.

And the Manchester United manager has revealed his delight at the way Rashford has been performing for his side, despite their stuttering form in the Premier League.

Speaking at his post-match news conference after the game, Solskjaer said: “The boy has got nerves of steel, he takes the penalty no problem.

“Then he steps up and hits the ball like he does, no problem, and wins us the game. Fantastic!

“He always scores great goals, Marcus. He practises and today he got his reward.”

Rashford will be expecting to start for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action on Saturday lunchtime with a trip to Bournemouth.

The Red Devils are currently in seventh place in the Premier League table as they look to try and break back into the top four this season.
