Manchester United still harbour hopes of signing Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham this summer

Manchester United still harbour hopes of signing Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Independent is reporting that the Red Devils are still keen to try and conclude a deal to bring the 29-year-old to Old Trafford this summer as Manchester United look to bolster their options at the back ahead of next season.
The same report says that negotiations between the two clubs broke off weeks ago, but Manchester United remain keen to get a deal done.
The story says that there is a sense that there is a “deal to be done” for Manchester United to sign Alderweireld this summer.
Manchester United are thought to still be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they look to try and build a squad capable of winning the Premier League next season.
The Red Devils have so far brought in Diogo Dalot, Fred and Lee Grant as Jose Mourinho prepares for his third season in charge at the club.
Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table and without a trophy last season after they were beaten by Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final back in May.
