Victor Lindelof identifies Man United's big issue in the Premier League this season
Victor Lindelof has suggested that Manchester United’s complacency in certain games has contributed to their stuttering start to the new season.
The Red Devils have found themselves under pressure this season following a stop-start first few months of the campaign in which they have only managed to win four of their 12 Premier League games.
Manchester United started the new season brightly with a 4-0 win over Chelsea FC at Old Trafford, but since then they have failed to find consistent form in the top flight.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has inevitably come under pressure this season following the Red Devils’ stuttering form, and Manchester United have only won two of their last five games in the Premier League.
Manchester United defender Lindelof believes that the Red Devils need to show more consistency on the pitch, especially when coming up against the so-called ‘lower’ teams.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Lindelof said: “I generally think there is one thing we need to get better at if we are going to get back to the level Manchester United should be at: that’s winning matches week in and week out.
“Sometimes it does not have to be neat, but you should win anyway.
“There’s been a bit of a problem. If we go into the matches against big clubs, we’re all connected, and we get results.
“Then a few days go by and we meet a slightly lower team, then we have to go in exactly the same way, not get comfortable.
“Those tendencies have existed even in these matches. We start well, play fast and get to positions – but then we stop with it after 20 minutes, complicate it and play poorly.”
Manchester United will return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Sheffield United away from home next weekend.
The Red Devils are aiming to try and break back into the top four after they finished in sixth place and without a trophy last season.
