Aaron Wan-Bissaka has revealed how Wilfried Zaha told him to play “without fear” following his move to Manchester United this summer.
The 21-year-old became Manchester United’s second signing of the summer transfer window earlier this month when the Red Devils concluded a deal to sign him from Crystal Palace.
Wan-Bissaka will be hoping to become an important part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team at Old Trafford as he bids to try and help Manchester United break back into the top four next season.
Zaha was something of a flop at Old Trafford after signing for the Red Devils in 2013, before returning to his old club.
And Wan-Bissaka has now revealed the advice given to him by his former team-mate Zaha after the announcement of his switch to Manchester United.
Speaking in an interview quoted by the Daily Mail, Wan-Bissaka said: “When he knew that I joined, he just told me to play without fear.
“I have come here as a new signing and he said, ‘Just play your game and do what you did last season’.
“He was happy for me. He said I deserved it and I should continue working hard and doing what I do.
“I try not to focus on that (the pressure). For me, it is just developing as a player and my ability to help the team going forward.
“I expected it when I came here – it’s a big club. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Crystal Palace so the attention will always be there. I just need to play my game and block it out.”
Manchester United ended up in sixth place and without a trophy last season and Solskjaer will be looking to put things right with an improved push for Champions League qualification next term.
Zaha himself has also been linked with a move away from Crystal Palace this summer, with Arsenal reportedly interested in the attacker.
