Zlatan Ibrahimovic has told Manchester United fans that he will come back stronger than ever following his lay-off with a serious knee injury.

The Swedish striker has not featured for the Red Devils since the end of last season after suffering the problem towards the end of his first campaign at Old Trafford.

Ibrahimovic has been working hard on his fitness levels at Manchester United’s Carrington training complex in recent weeks as he bids to get back to full fitness as soon as possible.

The striker penned a new one-year contract with the Red Devils last month to extend his stay at Old Trafford until the end of the season.

And the Swedish star says he is determined to be back in action as soon as possible for the Premier League side.

Ibrahimovic told Inside United: “I feel good.

“I have trained every day since I had my knee operated on, there is no vacation.

“When I come back to play football on the field I will be better than before, I am not coming back because I am the one I am, I am coming back to be a better version of the old one.

“I feel good and I feel my movements are there. If it was up to me I would like to play football today but it doesn’t work like that.

“I need to have patience and that’s the way we work. We are in no rush, when we are ready we will be ready.

“When I am playing again I don’t want any excuses that I was injured, or ‘he just came back, this is his first game’.

“No, I want to feel the same pressure I had before because everything happened. I am looking forward to that moment.”

There is no official date set for Ibrahimovic’s comeback at the moment, but it’s thought that he could make his return for the Red Devils in January.

Manchester United are aiming to win the Premier League title this season for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement back in 2013.

The Red Devils ended up sixth but won the EFL Cup and Europa League last term.
