Man United prepared to try and sign 24-year-old – report
Manchester United are prepared to make a bid to try and sign Jordan Pickford if David De Gea leaves, according to reports
Manchester United are strongly considering a big-money bid to try and sign Jordan Pickford from Everton if David De Gea ends up leaving the club, according to reports in the British media.
The Sun is reporting that the Red Devils are ready to target the £60m-rated 24-year-old and try and bring him to Old Trafford in the new year.
The same article states that De Gea’s exit from the Old Trafford outfit is looking increasingly “inevitable” as the clock ticks down on the Spaniard’s contract.
De Gea’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season but Manchester United do have the option to extend it by a further year.
However, if De Gea were to refuse to commit to a new deal, it would leave Manchester United facing the prospect of losing the shot-stopper on a free transfer in the summer of 2020.
According to the same story, Pickford is seen as the “perfect” replacement for De Gea should the Spaniard indeed leave the Red Devils.
The same report says that De Gea is being targeted by Italian side Juventus.
Since his arrival at Old Trafford from Atletico Madrid back in 2011, De Gea has established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in world football.
He will be expecting to feature for the Red Devils when Manchester United take on Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League.
