Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Man United v Southampton
The Liverpool legend is confident Manchester United will find a way to beat Southampton at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon

Mark Lawrenson is confident Manchester United will find a way to beat Southampton at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Manchester United haven’t won a game in their last three outings in all competitions to heap pressure on manager Jose Mourinho and leave the Portuguese coach in a foul mood over the festive schedule.
The Red Devils succumbed to a surprise 2-1 loss to Championship side Bristol City in the League Cup quarter-finals before the Red Devils drew 2-2 with Leicester City and then Burnley.
Southampton almost secured a point against Premier League leaders Manchester City last month before Raheem Sterling scored a late winner for the Citizens.
However, the Saints are winless in their last six Premier League games following three defeats and three stalemates.
Former Liverpool defender Lawrenson believes Manchester United will win even if Southampton adopt a conservative approach at Old Trafford.
“Mauricio Pellegrino’s side have won only one of their past 11 league games, and have scored only 12 goals in that spell, so the pressure is on him to improve things quickly too,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“This is not the game for that to happen, though.
You just know Saints are going to go to Old Trafford and camp in their own half, because they did it against Manchester City last month – and almost got a point. Almost.”
Manchester United haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson was still in charge at Old Trafford.
Mourinho has signed Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly last year.
The Manchester United boss snapped up Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic in the 2017 summer transfer window.
