Manchester United transfer target Mateo Kovacic wants to leave Real Madrid this summer, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish newspaper Marca, as quoted by Metro, is carrying quotes from the Croatia international suggesting that he could be open to a move away from the Bernabeu this summer.
The same report says that Kovacic is a potential summer transfer target for the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham, Juventus and Inter Milan ahead of the closing of the summer transfer window next month.
According to the same article, Kovacic held meeting with new Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui in which he made his intentions to quit the Spanish club “clear”.
Kovacic was in good form for Croatia at the World Cup in Russia as he helped his country to reach the final, where they ended up losing to France.
Manchester United are still believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Jose Mourinho aims to assemble a squad capable of winning the title next season.
The Red Devils finished in second place in the Premier League table and without a trophy last season in what was Mourinho’s second campaign in charge at Old Trafford.
