Manchester United are weighing up a potential deal to sign CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin, according to a report
Manchester United are close to completing a £15m deal to sign CSKA Moscow attacker Aleksandr Golovin, according to a report in England.
The Sun, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Red Devils have been keeping tabs on the Russia international ahead of the 2018 summer transfer window.
The same article claims that Mourinho attended Austria’s 1-0 win over Russia to watch Golovin as well as West Ham forward Marko Arnautovic.
Manchester United’s interest in the Austria international has been well documented but The Sun claim that watching Golovin was the main purpose of Mourinho’s trip.
According to the same story, the Red Devils expect to spend £15m on the 22-year-old, who Manchester United view as a long-term replacement for Spain international Juan Mata.
Golovin scored seven goals in 43 games in all competitions in the 2017-18 season to attract interest from Manchester United in the current transfer window.
The Red Devils could face competition from their Premier League rivals Arsenal, who have also been touted with an interest in the Russian playmaker.
Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier league table last season but missed out silverware following a 1-0 loss to Chelsea in the FA Cup final.
