Insider questions why Man United would spend £78m on 24-year-old striker
Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol doesn't believe Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata is worth his £78m price tag
Alvaro Morata isn’t worth Real Madrid’s £78m price tag, according to Kaveh Solhekol.
The Sky Sports News HQ reporter has been providing updates on Manchester United’s pursuit of Real Madrid striker Morata as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his attacking options at Old Trafford.
The Spain international has found his first-team opportunities limited under Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane over the course of the 2016-17 season at the Bernabeu Stadium.
Morata still managed to score a respectable 15 goals in 26 appearances in La Liga last term despite being behind Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Isco in the pecking order.
Manchester United have reportedly switched their focus to Morata after ending their interest in Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann.
Sky Sports News HQ reporter Solhekol has questioned how Real Madrid can justify asking £78m for Morata when los Blancos re-signing the striker for £26m last term.
Solhekol wrote on his Twitter page: “Real Madrid bought Alvaro Morata back last summer using €30m (£26m) option. Hard to see why they now think he’s worth €90m (£78m).”
Manchester United secured their place in next season’s Champions League thanks to a 2-0 win against Ajax in the Europa League final.
